66Job Interview Checklist
This is really a list of key principals that are VITAL to your interviewing success.
Without further ado... Off we go.
- It's really important that you have a clear vision of the sort of role and target employer your aiming for, take your time this is important.
- Research; to gain a crystal clear understanding of your strengths and weakness, as they apply to your TARGET employer.
- Prepare how to COMPENSATE for your weaknesses or gaps in CRITICAL experience or skills.
- Assemble AWESOME marketing materials (letters, resume or CV, brag book, testimonials, articles, OBJECTIVE Statement) .
- Master a strategy for answering tough interview questions. I recommend the STAR Method.
- Learn a technique for ASKING intelligent questions.
- Learn positive body language (the old adage “it’s not what you say but how you say it” definitely holds true).
- Don't forget to consider networking, who you know may be more powerful than what you know?
- Put all these points together into a super powerful job interview strategy.
Take your time and prepare for all the job interview checklist points above, and your interviewing success is assured.
Points 1 & 2 often get quite a lot of push back from people who
feel these points are too obvious for serious consideration. But as a
recruiter, I get to interview far too many people who are not happy
with their careers, and life choices for me not to raise these points.
I personally also spent far too long in my early life in jobs I didn’t
really enjoy.
I’ve also worked for many clients that though
they’ve produced a job specification, are FAR from clear over the type
of person they “really” want to hire.
It's not right to
shoulder you the potential employee with the responsibility of helping
your target employer clarify their thinking, I promise you it will pay
you dividends.
There's loads of good free information that covers the points above.
The materials I refer to harness the power of human psychology, proven
marketing techniques, and the rapidly changing technology that’s so
helpful for career developers…
