CV / Resume Tips

As a recruitment consultant much of my time is spent providing people CV / Resume writing tips.

In terms of reading CVs and Resumes I really have seen the Good the Bad and the downright Ugly!

The purpose of this Hub is to provide what I hope to be highly useful advice gained from my many years experience. Experience of what I know works, and indeed what I know doesn't work.

To help you avoid the mistakes that can sink even the most talented person.

Because your CV / Resume must SELL you, and sell you fast.

Before we get into the detail of building your CV or Resume, and before I drive you insane by continuing to use both CV and Resume. it's is worth taking a moment to explain the differences between a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a Resume.

It's my personal view that for job hunting, a CV and Resume have become interchangeable, and I don't want to get bogged down in the detail. Also as I live in the UK, I will now refer to the document as a CV.

Just for the record - to define Curriculum Vitae - Curriculum vitae is Latin meaning "course of life", and thankfully is mostly shortened to CV.

Resume is French for Summary, and if you where to ask the difference, a CV would provide more detail and would be slightly longer than a resume.

However whatever you chose to call the document its purpose is to pursuasively, compel the reader to simply have to meet you for interview.
